Discipline Policy
Wrote in 2016
At Little Scholars University we believe children deserve the utmost respect when being corrected and shaming a child is NEVER appropriate. We also believe children act in mistaken behavior: not understanding or remembering what is expected of them. Our policy is to guide and instruct; not to punish or humiliate.
Every child will receive the following:
First Offense:
Verbal Warning
The child will receive a gentle reminder of what behavior or words are appropriate for school.
Second Offense:
Redirection
The child will be redirected to play in another area, find a different activity, or chose another friend to play with. Many times when a child is redirected away from a frustrating situation this helps relieve intense emotions.

Third Offense:
Removal from Area
The child will be required, at this point, to write in a journal, or sit quietly with a book, or work with Play-Doh, or sand sensory. The student will decide, along with the overseeing adult, when it is appropriate to return to the group.

Fourth Offense:
Call to Parents
A phone call will be made to the parents if the child repeats the same offense four times in a day. The parent will be required to pick up their student. If a parent cannot be reached we will call the authorized adults to come pick up the student.
Once a child has received more than three phone calls home in a quarter; the parents, teacher, and director are required to have a behavioral meeting.
Termination may follow.
Note: We will never withhold food, physically punish, or take away outside time!
